Weirs Beach to Center Harbor and Meredith
Monday, June 25 – September 5
Departing from Weirs Beach, pass through the Eagle Island Narrows and follow along the shore of Governor's Island. Once you have passed through "The Witches" and wound your way though Saunders and Timber Islands, you will start to make a gradual turn towards the Northeast. You will pass through the northern part of the Broads which will give you an amazing view of the mountain ranges on the northern border of the lake. Once you pass Steamboat Island and 6 Mile Island, this is where you may catch a glimpse of Mt. Washington on a clear day. Pass by other notable islands such as 3 Mile Island (owned by the Appalachian Mountain Club) and Black Cat Island (one of only three major islands connected to shore and therefore accessible year-round). Shortly, you will enter and dock at Center Harbor, the Mount's winter home and site of the Winnipesaukee Flagship Corporation's Shipyard. Upon your departure from Center Harbor, you will weave through the islands towards Meredith. Zig zag through Beaver Island on your right and 3 Mile Island on your left. The Mount will slow its speed to pass through the no wake zone near Bear Island. Here you will see the large dock which accommodates the US Mailboat Sophie C. After passing the Cattle Landing and Horse Island, the Mount will make a sharp turn west, along the shore of Governor's Island and continue back through the Eagle Island narrows. She will then swing in a northerly direction to head up the 5 mile length of Meredith Bay. Your trip down the bay will be short, arriving in Meredith which is home to the fabulous Inns & Spa at Mill Falls. As you arrive at the dock, you'll see the picturesque town laid out before you. Your trip back down the bay will lead you back to where you started your trip, Weirs Beach.
