Two New Hampshire Icons Unite to Create "Makers on the Mount"

LEAGUE OF NH CRAFTSMEN PARTNERS WITH M/S MOUNT WASHINGTON FOR INAUGURAL "MAKERS ON THE MOUNT" CRUISE

This Memorial Day Weekend, the M/S Mount Washington and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen are joining forces to launch "Makers on the Mount," a first-of-its-kind floating showcase of Granite State artistry. This partnership transforms the historic 230-foot vessel into a premier cultural destination, with a portion of the proceeds from every ticket donated directly to the League to support their mission of nurturing and promoting fine craft.

The event serves as a natural bridge between two state institutions: the M/S Mount Washington, which has navigated Lake Winnipesaukee’s waters since 1872, and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, one of the oldest and most respected craft organizations in the nation.

"The 'Mount' is a symbol of New Hampshire’s enduring spirit and values," said Jared Maraio, General Manager of Mount Washington Cruises. "By partnering with the League, we are using our platform to shine a light on the incredible talent of our local makers. This cruise allows our guests to not only enjoy the beauty of the lake but to actively preserve the artistic traditions that make our state so unique."

Onboard Experience Highlights:

  • Cruising for the Arts: Every passenger contributes to the future of the local arts community, as a portion of their ticket price supports the League’s educational and professional development programs.
  • Pop-Up Artist Demonstrations: Master craftsmen will provide live "behind-the-scenes" looks at their creative processes, from jewelry making to pottery.
  • The Maker’s Market: A curated selection of handmade goods by juried League members will be available for purchase, offering passengers a chance to take home a piece of authentic New Hampshire.
  • Local Craft Beer Garden: In keeping with the theme of local excellence, the ship’s deck will feature a beer garden showcasing the finest brews from New Hampshire’s independent craft breweries.
  • The Inaugural "Mug on the Mount": To commemorate the event, the first edition of the "Mug on the Mount" will be unveiled. This special-edition vessel was created by a local artist specifically for this cruise and will be available in limited quantities.

"The League's mission is to advance and champion excellence in fine craft," said Kate Saunders, Executive Director. "This partnership provides a literal platform for our mission. The support from the proceeds will ensure we can continue to provide resources for the next generation of New Hampshire makers."

The "Makers on the Mount" cruise will depart from Weirs Beach on Saturday, May 23 with departures at 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM from Weirs Beach, and 11:15 AM from Wolfeboro.
